Dear USPATH Student & Trainee Members,

I hope this message finds you well. As the Student Member of the Board of Directors of USPATH, I am thrilled to announce the call for applications for the chair of the newly established Student & Trainee Special Interest Group (SIG).

The USPATH Student & Trainee SIG is an initiative aimed at addressing the significant gap in specialized training and networking opportunities in transgender health for students and trainees across various disciplines. Our mission is to foster a supportive community for networking, mentorship, and professional growth. The goals of the SIG include establishing a robust member network, launching a mentorship program, facilitating community growth, and expanding offerings and leadership opportunities over time.

Chair Position Overview:

The Chair of the USPATH Student & Trainee SIG will play a pivotal role in shaping the direction and success of the SIG. Responsibilities include organizing virtual events, coordinating virtual mentorship opportunities, and leading efforts to grow the SIG's membership and impact.

Application Criteria:
  • Must be a USPATH student or trainee member in good standing for a minimum of 1 year.
  • Cannot be under disciplinary action by any institution or professional society.
  • Should have relevant experience and/or interest in leadership within a student organization.
  • Must be willing and able to serve a 1-year term and remain a student or trainee for the majority of the term.
Application Process:

Interested candidates are required to submit:

  • A completed application form, including personal and academic details.
  • A CV.
  • A Statement of Interest explaining your motivation for applying for the chair position and how you plan to address the gap in specialized training and networking opportunities in transgender health.
  • Details of relevant experience and skills related to transgender health, mentorship, and networking.
  • A strategy for the success of the SIG, including plans for recruitment and professional growth facilitation.
  • Anticipated resources needed from USPATH to achieve these goals.
  • Plans for the dissemination of deliverables and updates about the SIG’s activities.
