WPATH GEI 2022 Course Schedule

Dear WPATH Community:

On this Transgender Day of Visibility, March 31, WPATH is pleased to present the GEI Course Schedule for 2022, as part of our continued support and effort to highlight and educate clinicians on TGNB care. WPATH stands beside all TGNB people and celebrates their accomplishments, today, and always.

Please note that registration is not yet open for all courses, and announcements will go out with more details as they are available and once registration is open for each course.

Before registering for your course(s), please note that you must be available to attend the live session date(s) listed above in order to complete the course and receive credit. Please check your calendar and local time zone before registering, as live attendance is required to complete the course and receive appropriate credit for completion. Refunds are subject to a 6% transaction fee.

All courses except Book Club will be accredited for continuing education credits. WPATH will approve the Book Club episodes for the Listening Hours, Ongoing CE, or Elective Hours requirements, as part of our certification program. Each episode will be approved for 2 hours. WPATH is finalizing the accreditation for these courses and accreditation information will be added to the website for each course, once finalized.

WPATH GEI Book Club - Indian Subcontinent Series  Register Now

WPATH's virtual Book Club premiered in 2021! This series provides attendees with an invaluable and unique opportunity to interact with leading authors in transgender health.

We are pleased to announce WPATH'S Subcontinent of India Series for our next three book club meetings on March 18, 2022, April 8, 2022, and May 20, 2022, 11:00 am EDT - 12:30 pm EDT, brought to us by the Series Coordinator, Dr. Sanjay Sharma. WPATH will approve these episodes for the Listening Hours, Ongoing CE, or Elective Hours requirements, as part of our certification program. Each episode will be approved for 2 hours.

WPATH GEI Journal Club – from the International Journal for Transgender Health

WPATH's Journal Club premiered in 2021! This online meeting format, featuring articles from the International Journal of Transgender Health (IJTH), will allow participants the opportunity to delve further into transgender health research topics and ask questions of the authors. In addition to earning valuable CME credits and ANCC contact hours, journal club meetings provide attendees with the valuable opportunity to interact with the experts doing cutting-edge research in transgender health.

NEW - WPATH GEI Advanced Identity Evolution Workshop Register Now

What to Expect: Transgender/gender diverse (T/GD) healthcare has largely focused on transitioning from one binary to another and has included non-binary identities in more recent years. However, evolving changes in gender identities aside from these more familiar paths have received little attention. WPATH has seen postings on the Member listserv and discussion forum where clinicians are beginning to discuss instances of patients/clients who are “de-transitioning.” WPATH GEI offers this first-ever program on Identity Evolution to enhance care for people who may take steps to de-transition, pause, or resume a gender transition, re-transition and/or take steps to affirm another identity. This program will involve a panel of mental health and medical professionals discussing sample cases and the issues involved. Additionally, ethical considerations and principles will be offered, and participants will have the opportunity to ask questions of the panelists.

Live Participation: Attendees must be available to attend the live session “in-person” on Friday, May 6, 2022, from 10, 2021, from 11:00am - 2:00pm ET to complete the Advanced Identity Evolution Workshop.

Attendees will be participating on camera during the live session.

NEW - WPATH GEI Multidisciplinary Voice & Communication Workshop Register Now

What to Expect: The Voice and Communication Workshop is an introductory workshop open to voice and non-voice clinicians of all experience levels. It provides a detailed overview of gender affirming voice and communication training, including a framework for assessment, training techniques, counseling, and cultural responsiveness considerations. Gender affirming voice care across other disciplines will also be briefly covered: Pitch-raising surgery, testosterone therapy, psychotherapy, music therapy, and singing training. Experts from multiple specialties will give didactic presentations and interact via a panel discussion.

Participation: Attendees must be available to attend the live session “in-person” on Saturday, June 25, 2022, from 11:00am – 12:00pm ET to complete the Voice & Communication Workshop. Attendees are required to watch the recorded presentations prior to the live session.

WPATH GEI 2-Day Foundations Course Register Now

What to Expect: Foundations in Transgender Health is intended for healthcare professionals of all experience levels and specialties, this is a two-day training course that focuses on the importance of an interdisciplinary care team approach and cross-specialty foundational knowledge. It includes what all providers should know about gender development, mental health considerations, policy and ethical issues, primary care and preventative health, puberty blockers and hormonal treatment, surgical overviews and much more, with the implementation of the Standards of Care Version 8 and the Core Competencies.

Live Participation: Attendees for this course must attend live on both September 16, 2022 and September 17, 2022 in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. Attendees for the November/December course, must watch recorded sessions on their own and attend the live dates in a virtual format. Exact dates and registration for the November/December course will open at a later date.

WPATH GEI Advanced Medical Course Register Now

What to Expect: The Advanced Medical course is a full-day training course that focuses on primary care across the lifespan, advanced hormonal therapy, and an introduction to gender-affirming surgeries and perioperative care. This course will include revised curriculum from the Standards of Care version 8.

Live Participation: Attendees for the September 17, 2022 course, must attend live in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. Attendees for the November/December course, must watch recorded sessions on their own and attend the live dates in a virtual format. Exact dates and registration for the November/December course will open at a later date.

What to Expect: The Advanced Mental Health is a full-day training that dives into advanced psychotherapy topics across the lifespan. This course will include revised curriculum from the Standards of Care version 8.

Attendees for the November/December course, must watch recorded sessions on their own and attend the live dates in a virtual format. WPATH GEI Online Advanced Child & Adolescent Workshop Register Now

What to Expect: The Advanced Child and Adolescent Workshop is an advanced workshop that includes information on assessment, hormones and fertility, sexual health for adolescents, and working with parents and families. Case-based discussions are an integral part of this intensive workshop. This course will include revised curriculum from the Standards of Care version 8.
