WPATH is sad to share the news of the passing of Terry Reed OBE, JP, BA (Hons), MCSP, SRP, Grad. Dip. Phys. On June 20, 2021, Terry lost her long-fought battle with cancer, she will be greatly missed.

Terry was a fierce advocate, working hard to advance transgender health and rights for all. Terry was a longtime member of WPATH and a workgroup member of the WPATH Standards of Care 8 Revision Committee. Terry, along with her husband Bernard, established GIRES in 1997, and through their work have never stopped supporting the rights of transgender people. In 2016 the Reed’s received the WPATH Education Award for their contributions to the field of transgender health.

Her passion, dedication, and commitment will be sorely missed by all. WPATH sends our deepest condolences to her husband, Bernard, and her surviving family. Terry’s work and perseverance will forever embed her in our work.
