CALL FOR NOMINATIONS
Student Initiative Vice Co-Chair & Student Representative to the Board of Directors Elect
Due Monday, October 21, 2019

WPATH is looking for a student Vice Co-Chair and Student Representative to the Board of Directors Elect. This elected position spans approximately 2 years, running from November 1, 2019 through the 26th Biennial Symposium in 2020 as the Vice Co-Chair and then assuming the Co-Chair role for the following year until the WPATH Board Annual General Meeting in 2021.

The Vice Co-Chair will spend the first year of their time working with the current Co-Chairs of the WSI. At the WPATH Symposium in 2020 a new Vice Co-Chair will be announced, and the current Vice Co-Chair will take on the role of Co-Chair and Student Representative to the Board of Directors.

This new structure was adopted so as to ensure that at least two students will always be working together, providing the newly elected representative time to learn the role and responsibilities from the senior student representative—allowing for a smoother transition between someone who has already acquired some experience, and someone more novice. Every year an election will be held for a new student to fill the role of “Vice Co-Chair & Student Representative to the BOD Elect.”

A successful student candidate should have a strong work ethic, be willing to devote a substantial amount of time to Association business on an ongoing basis (approximately 2 hours per week) and have the capacity to respond quickly to WPATH business. Candidates must commit to personally attend annual meetings at various national and international locations and participate in regular teleconference meetings (bimonthly and scheduled as needed). Ideal candidates are people who are deeply committed to the WPATH Mission and Vision, and enthusiastic about working cooperatively with other Board members to strengthen the Association.

Eligibility:
  • Candidates are required to be a current student member of WPATH.
  • Candidates are required to currently be enrolled at the time of application. We define “student” by the same standards that WPATH does, hence if you are a student member of WPATH you are eligible for this role.
  • Ideally candidates will be a student for the entirety of their term (2 years), however we recognize that different countries have different educational calendars that may impact this. Please address this in your personal statement.
The newly elected Vice WSI Co-Chair & Student Representative Elect will take office mid-November, 2019.

If you are interested in the position of “WPATH Student Initiative Vice Co-Chair & Student Representative to the BOD Elect” please submit your CV and a 1-page personal statement regarding your qualifications, skills, and interest to the Student Initiative by October 21, 2019.
  • E-mail: WPATHstudents@PROTECTED
  • Subject: WPATH Student Representative Nomination
  • Make sure you include your name, contact information including phone and email address
  • Applications without a personal statement and CV will NOT be accepted.
Following October 21st, candidate information (including your submitted personal statement) will be provided to WPATH student members via an election poll provided you meet the eligibility criteria. The election will span 2 weeks, after which the successful candidate will be announced.
