It's About Time: Concerns of Middle Aged and Older Transgender and Gender Diverse Individuals, a WPATH GEI Workshop (Virtual)
July 19, 2024: 12:00pm - 2:00pm ET
Across the world, the proportion of older adults in developed countries is growing, including the number of middle-aged and elder people who are transgender/gender diverse (TGD). This is WPATH GEI's first course focusing on medical, biological, psychological, neuropsychological, and legal concerns of aging TGD individuals and their loved ones.
The course will include 3 hours of pre-recorded videos, for attendees to view at their convenience starting July 1, and an additional 2-hour live online multidisciplinary panel (July 19). Four videoed cases will be presented in the videos and live session. Attendees will have opportunities to discuss the cases presented and to ask questions of the panelists. Myths, stereotypes, and the effects of intersectionality of ageism, ableism and transphobia will be addressed. Lastly, the potential role of these TGD middle-aged and elder individuals will be considered to help TGD youth to imagine a better future for themselves.
