Foundations & Advanced Courses
Registration is now open for our Spring 2023 offerings of the following WPATH GEI Courses:
- GEI Online Foundations Course (Live Sessions March 17-31, 2023)
- GEI Online Advanced Mental Health Course (Live Session: April 14, 2023: 10:30am – 2:30pm EDT)
- GEI Online Advanced Medical Course (Live Session: April 15, 2023: 11:00am – 3:00pm EDT)
We are pleased to bring you these courses featuring a newly updated curriculum based on the WPATH Standards of Care, Version 8. Please read below for more information about these courses, and to register today!
WPATH GEI Online Foundations Course

The WPATH GEI Online Foundations Course includes the following components:
- Pre-Recorded Didactic Sessions, which attendees can watch starting now. Attendees should watch all recorded presentations in preparation for the live panels.
- Two 2-hour Live Streamed Case Discussion Panels, which attendees will select and attend between March 13 – March 31, 2023.
- One 2-hour Live Q&A Panel, which attendees will select and attend between March 17 – 29, 2023.
What to Expect:
Registered attendees will receive the link to access the GEI Foundations Course Platform and begin viewing the Pre-Recorded Didactic Sessions on-demand on March 1, within 48 hours after registering, directly through the meeting platform.
When you receive this link, you will be prompted to set up an Attendee profile that will be visible to all other Course attendees, Speakers, and Staff. The course is set up so that you have time to watch the recorded sessions in advance of attending the live panels, and we encourage you to do so, so that you are well prepared for those interactive sessions.
After you have registered and paid, you will receive a confirmation email, which will include the link to RSVP for your selected Live Case Discussion Panels and Live Q&A Panel. Please note that you must select and attend two 2-hour Live Case Discussion panels, and one 2-hour Live Q&A panel, to complete and receive full credit for the GEI Foundations Course.
All materials for the GEI Foundations Course, including Faculty Bios, Handouts, PDF copy of the SOCv8, and Accreditation information, will be available through the Course Platform. As an attendee benefit, you will have access to the Course Platform and all Foundations Course content through July 1, 2023.
This course fulfills the Foundations requirement for members pursuing WPATH GEI Certification.
WPATH GEI Online Advanced Mental Health Course
Recorded Sessions Available after March 31, 2023
Live Session: Friday, April 14, 2023 - 10:30am – 2:30pm Eastern Daylight Time (EDT)
The WPATH GEI Online Advanced Mental Health Course will include two components:
- Pre-Recorded Didactic Sessions, which attendees can stream on-demand starting Friday, March 31, 2023.
- Live Session: Friday, April 14, 2023: 10:30am-2:30pm Eastern Daylight Time (GMT-4).
Attendees must watch all the pre-recorded didactic presentations and attend the live session "in-person" on April 14 to complete the course.
What to Expect:
The Advanced Mental Health Course is intended for mental health professionals who have previously completed the GEI Foundations Course. Topics include – Professionals as People, Complex Co-occurring Conditions, Intersectionality and POC, Gender Diversity and Neurodiversity/Autism, Relationships, and Transitioning on the Job.
Attendees will receive access to the GEI Course Platform after March 31 to begin watching the pre-recorded didactic sessions. Attendees should plan to watch the pre-recorded didactic presentations prior to attending the live session on April 14.
WPATH GEI Online Advanced Medical Course

Live Session: Saturday, April 15, 2023 - 11:00am – 3:00pm Eastern Daylight Time (EDT)
The WPATH GEI Online Advanced Medical Course will include two components:
- Pre-Recorded Didactic Sessions, which attendees can stream on-demand starting Friday, March 31, 2023.
- Live Session scheduled on Saturday, April 15, 2023: 11:00am – 3:00pm Eastern Daylight Time (GMT-4).
Attendees must watch all the pre-recorded didactic presentations and attend the live session "in-person" on April 15 to complete the course.
What to Expect:
The Advanced Medical Course is intended for medical professionals who have previously completed the GEI Foundations Course. The course will focus on advanced hormonal treatment and complications, co-occurring conditions, general health, gender affirming surgeries and perioperative care, ongoing primary care, and aging.
Attendees will receive access to the GEI Course Platform after March 31 to begin watching the pre-recorded didactic sessions. Attendees should plan to watch the pre-recorded didactic presentations prior to attending the live session on April 15.
