Congratulations Dr. Rachel Levine

WPATH and USPATH Applaud Your Historic Confirmation

On behalf of the World Professional Association for Transgender Health (WPATH) and the United States Professional Association for Transgender Health (USPATH) we want to take this opportunity to congratulate Dr. Rachel Levine on her March 24, 2021 confirmation as Assistant Secretary for Health in the US Department of Health and Human Services.

Dr. Levine is a leader in public health and will be working alongside Secretary Xavier Becerra, JD, and US Surgeon General Vivek Murthy, MD, MBA. We are confident that this team at the HHS Department will help to decrease the health inequities that exist in the United States of America.

As the now highest ranking openly transgender person serving in the US government, Dr. Levine is in a unique position to inform and move care forward in a positive way. It is time for the federal government to face, address, and begin to repair these inequities, and we look forward to her taking on this position and facing the difficult tasks that lie ahead.

We are confident that Dr. Levine’s collaborative approach will help to ensure that standards of care and accessibility to care for the transgender and gender diverse community becomes more widely available. We look forward to assisting her and the HHS team in making that happen.
